We're so pleased that you've decided to give diaspora* a try. It's fantastic that you've joined us!
We hope that you quickly find your way here, and enjoy getting connected with people and content.
Here's a few tips for getting started:
- There are some step-by-step tutorials on our project website covering the basics of how diaspora* works, and how to get connected with people. There's a link to these in the side-bar, should you ever want to read them in future, and there's also an in-app Help section you can access through your user menu (at the right-hand end of the header bar).
- You can search for people by name or by diaspora* ID (which looks like an email address), if you know it, from the search field in the header bar. You can invite people to join you in diaspora* by sending them a link to our project website, from where they can choose their own pod to register with. Your friends don't need to be on the same pod as you in order to connect and communicate with you.
- One good way to start getting connected with people is to start following some #tags of subjects that interest you (maybe #music, #photography, #linux, or #activism ... whatever interests you) so that you will see content on those topics in your stream. You can then start following people whose posts you find interesting, by placing them into one of your aspects.
- If you have any questions, post something with the #question or #help tag, and people will try to help you. Make sure to make your post public so anyone who can help is able to see it!
diaspora* has some very simple community guidelines, which we hope everyone will feel able to follow so that all members can have the best possible experience here.
We're trying to improve diaspora* all the time, fixing bugs, honing performance and adding new features. But how fast we can do this is limited by the time developers have. To improve diaspora* faster, we need more developers! If you've just signed up and can code, or know someone who can and who might be interested in joining our team, get in touch!

Than I took a screen from the app view, uploaded it and added it as an image in a third response via the app to your post.

I have realized before that I don't get notifications when a comment isn't published because my profile is blocked by the other profile. Before that was not the case, the same as in likes. A sign popped up stating "you can't comment" or "you can't like".
I asked before and got an answer that sounded that it was a temporary issue, a #bug.
I'm starting to doubt that, even more as right now I'm investigating the shadowban practices of as you may find in other publications by me with the tag #shadowban and understand more and more how dangerous this practice is and how wide spread it is becoming as a tool on the web.
Can coders or trusted people by me of the community like @Fla or others please answer my doubts if this behavior of not notifying that you can't comment right now is a mistake, a #bug that will be fixed or that it is intended?
To make it clear, for now harry as no clue about what really happened meanwhile I was sure that the misunderstanding was solved as I responded the proper way. I only realized that harry still isn't aware of the reality out of my curiosity how the image looks from the desktop so reloaded his post.
(btw - I'm since 2011 on D* and will leave immediately if any form of shadow ban is implemented and the basics of transparency get's lost)

Suddenly we can't upload stuff any longer. I do exactly as before and we get a message that the upload was successful. But there is nothing! File size is ok. Connection is ok. My question for you: How to motivate yourself to continue with confidence and serenity?
When looking through the stream activity on diaspora I come across some delighting posts about cats, some jokes, nice countryside pictures, wisdom and what ever else makes me enjoying a post. However, what hits mostly my attention are all the bad news shared here.
I grew up in Germany and do have good memories of living with people and remember many beautiful landscapes. Now I am living in Taiwan. Most of the news about Germany I receive via Diaspora. Not being in Germany and reading about what is going on there, I get the feeling that it becomes a no go area. Is it really as bad in Germany? Is there really no chance to change the course towards a different way of living together?
Is it true that the 'American way' is manifesting in Germany more and more? Are prepper, #afd and the like going to dominate the way of live in Germany or are those groups only highlighted in the media as a means of leading people's thinking towards more obedience to and refuge into the hardening rules of the state.
Are there ways to get more positive, inspiring or strengthening posts into one's stream? Can you recommend some tags or something I forgot to think about?
